Make Firefox look like IE 7

Might appear like a crazy thought but some of you might want to do it. Could be that you are using vista and you want to keep Firefox’s toolbar area as thin as IE’s. It won’t make the navigation toolbar transparent but in my opinion it’s still more pleasing to the eyes. It’s great on Vista but I haven’t checked the look on XP so it might not be pleasant.
Click for bigger image.
So here’s how you do it:

1) Download and apply this custom theme.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4988
2) Download this add-on.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4762
3) Right-click on the navigation bar and untick Mainmenu toolbar. This should hide the Mainmenu toolbar. (It’s still accessible by pressing Alt.)

Note: Credit goes to "FlyWorld and "Merci chao" for the theme and to "yuoo2k" for the add-on.

Want to hack?

Have you ever wanter to hack? Or atleast learn how to hack/crack passwords? I have, and I've found a pretty good site for this. There are lots of websites that have all sorts of challenge to guide you in a way that you can learn "tricks" but there's one that I've used extensively. Hackits.de is really great in terms of challenge and there are also some dedicated users on the website forums that help you to understand.
Lately it seems that they're having problems, looks like the website has been taken over by the FBI. Strange... They're accused of terroristic intentions, all because of some people acting like fools on the IRC!
However the site is still open and if hacking tempts you give it a shot. Who knows it might be the start of your hacking career! :P

A Time-Proof Design

A design that has been around for nearly 16 years, and does not seem to be getting old. A simple rectangular black box design, marking the lives of millions of people around the world. The ThinkPad although so simple has somehow managed to remain more or less the same in terms of form factor whilst all other manufacturers moved to other designs. Going back to the roots, the original ThinkPad was designed by Richard Sapper for IBM. Many things such as the water proof keyboard and the UltraConnect antennas just make the ThinkPad’s design stand out. At the centre of the keyboard a bright-red TrackPoint, much better than the traditional touchpad, makes up the ThinkPad's signature.

How long will this design hang around without being obsolete? Only time will tell...

Heroes Season 3

The creators revealed that season 3 will focus on the bad guys. The bad guys get together and rise up to destroy the earth, like what the good guys did to save the world in season 1.

At a recent film festival the show creators, Tim Kring and Jeph Loeb, presented a short clip from the upcoming season.

Luckily someone filmed it! Although the quality isn't so good it's enough to make Heroes' fans even more impatient. Season 3 premiere is scheduled on September 15 and rumor has it that it will be three hours long.

Online Radio :: XM Satellite Radio

One of my greatest bandwidth eater is online radio. Unlike local radios who are around 1-2 months behind "single releases" from popular artists, XM Satellite radio always plays the best music as soon as it's released.
XM radio is the supposedly #1 Satellite Radio in America. It's a paid service but there's a work-around to getting some channels for free. Using Winamp you can listen to some of them under the "AOL Radio" tab. All the channels are commercial-free and I find that their music playlists are great. There are music of all the gengres from 50's pop hits to modern rock. Good for those times when local radio are playing crap music. It's worth a try. http://www.winamp.com/

Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre

Quoting from the Government's Website

"Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre is a non-formal educational institution for
the promotion of science and technology among students and members of the
public. The first of its kind in this region, the centre operates under the
aegis of the Ministry of Education and Human Resources of the Republic of
Mauritius.
We invite curious minds of all ages to join us and find out how
science helps us to better understand the world and how technology could be used
to improve our life."

The centre is supposed to "promote science and technology" but those who have been there will know how good the centre is at that. They certainly are not doing their best to make this place a worthwhile visit.

Lots of the "mini-experiments" to demonstrate different laws of science were out of order. Around 5 computers which were supposedly there to provide a gateway to web articles were displaying the BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death), things modern computers aren't supposed to do.

Couldn't get this guy's hand off the picture..

Lack of funds cannot be used as an excuse anymore, with all the money they're taking from us they should at least use it in places where it's really needed. If they think this is helping to promote science and technology, they probably should think again!

First Post..

Hi everyone. I'm from Mauritius and my main hobby is surfing the net.. I said to myself why not start a blog to talk about interesting things I come through while looking around. I'm new to blogging, I'll try to post some tutorials every now and then. If you find my blog interesting spread the word!
